WASHINGTON, Aug 29: One of President Bill Clinton’s closest advisors testified today in a special session of the White House intern sex-and-lies probe.
Deputy White House counsel Bruce Lindsey went before Kenneth Starr’s grand jury to answer questions about helping Clinton prepare his testimony about his affair with Monica Lewinsky.
The White House had sought to shield Clinton’s friend of 30 years but a judge rejected its attorney-client privilege claim.
Lindsey refused to answer some of Starr’s questions during his previous three sessions. Asked whether he would respond to all queries on Friday, he simply told reporters did not know what the questions would be. He left the federal court house four hours later without comment and could not say whether he would appear for another session.
