LUCKNOW, Oct 15: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will spell out its stand on an alliance with other parties for the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi at a rally in New Delhi on October 24.
BSP national vice-president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati told newspersons her party had not taken any decision in this regard.
Mayawati, however, made it clear her party would not go in for an alliance with any party in the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, whenever they were held. “But in the larger interest of the Bahujan Samaj Party, we may form an alliance in the other states,” she said.
Mayawati also announced that the party was not in the fray for the six Vidhan Parishad seats, elections to which were due on November 13, but the party would contest the by-election to the Agra East Assembly seat, which was vacant following the death of Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Satya Prakash Vikal.
Asked if it meant the party would not support anyone in the Vidhan Parishadelection, the BSP leader replied the decision has been left to the party supporters.
She said the party had decided not to contest the six Vidhan Parishad elections because they were indirect. Three of the six seats at stake in the Parishad are teachers constituencies while the remaining are graduate constituencies.
Meanwhile, Mayawati alleged that about 25 ministers in the State Cabinet had criminal backgrounds and demanded action against them.
She alleged that Chief Minister Kalyan Singh’s son Rajvir Singh had turned transfers and postings of officers in the State into a money-spinning business.
Ridiculing the recently-announced 15-point resolution of the State Government, she said it may adopt a 100-point resolution, but would neither be able to expedite developmental processes nor control corruption and crime.
Mayawati also warned the State Government of dire consequences if the Vishwa Hindu Parishad went ahead with its programme of starting the Ram temple construction in Ayodhya asannounced.
