The current budget session of Parliament scheduled to conclude on May 9 may be curtailed, sources said here on Wednesday. However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi on Tuesday denied any such move, behind-the-scene parleys among party leaders indicate otherwise.
The ruling Congress is credited with a keenness to cut the session short so that party leaders can focus on Karnataka Assembly poll campaign. The first phase of polling in the state is slated for May 10. The BJP, is inclined to go along without betraying its readiness to play the ball with the Congress. However, the move has met with opposition from the Left. According to the sources, the official business may get over by April 30. Once, the financial business is over, the Government can conclude the session any time. However, if the financial business spills over to the first week of May, the session may end on May 5.
