CHANDIGARH, July 30: About 58 pregnant women and 32 lactating mothers were registered and medically examined during Matri Suraksha Abhiyan, which was observed at the Civil Dispensary in Sector 38 today by Citizens Awareness Group in collaboration with the Health Department.

Addressing mediapersons, R.S. Sandhu, Director Health Services, UT, said that these camps were being organised to cover all the pregnant women in the city to check the mortality rate. The camps will also enlighten the lactating women regarding the diet requirements of mother and child. The importance of immunisation would also be stressed.

District Family Welfare officer informed that these camps were being organised to create awareness among pregnant women for safe motherhood.
