SHARJAH, DEC 16: Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar blamed a slow outfield for misjudging his second run leading to his dismissal and the humiliating defeat against West Indies in the Akai Singer cricket tournament here tonight.
“I don’t deny we batted badly. We must learn to do well in crunch situations,” he told a press meet after the defeat which put West Indies into the final and knocked India out.
He defended his going for a second run. “I felt the run rate was climbing and I should get along with the scoring.”
He admitted Indian batsmen are poor in converting singles into twos and said it was an area which needed attention.
To a pointed question whether it was time he quit captaincy and concentrated on batting, Tendulkar said it was for the selectors to decide.
