A complaint from last year against Shiv Sena supremo, Bal Thackeray, for inciting communal passions came in handy when Maharashtra Dy CM Chagan Bhujbal was looking for ammunition when Sena accused him of underworld links. Four days ago, a case against Thackeray, executive editor and Sena MP Sanjay Nirupam, were registered, for ‘‘provocation with intent to cause riot’’. The unsigned editorial titled ‘‘Nandurbar me danga’’ (riots in Nandurbar) dates back to May 15, 2002.
