PUNE, Oct 5: Cash of Rs 1.05 lakh was taken away by unidentified thieves in two separate incidents on Sunday night.A bag containing a cash of Rs 22,650 was stolen near Punjabi Cultural hall at Salisbury Park. The motorcycle-borne thieves took away the bag from Mahendra Thakkar (42) who was returning home on his scooter. The incident occurred around 10.45 pm.In his complaint lodged with the Swargate police, Thakkar stated that while trying to avoid potholes on the road, he momentarily lost his balance. As he stopped on the road, the two motorcyclists neared him, lifted the bag kept on the footboard and sped away.In another incident, a cash of Rs 83,000 was taken away from a Sham general provisions store at the shopping complex at Khadki. The thieves broke the shutter locks and took away the cash from the counter. Proprietor Shamlal Agarwal has lodged a complaint with the Khadki police.Theft at post office: Postal stamps worth Rs 1009 were stolen by unidentified thieves from the Dighi Camp post office. The theft came to light on Sunday when the post office was opened after two consecutive holidays on Dassera and Gandhi Jayanti. The thieves entered the office by breaking the door. Besides taking away the stamps, they also took away a cash of Rs 24.60. Post master Maya Kamble has lodged a complaint with the Vishrantwadi police.Two killed: Two persons were killed in two separate mishaps in Pune on Saturday. An unidentified person, aged around 30 years, was run over by a jeep opposite Eden Garden building on the Pune-Nagar Road. The mishap occurred around 9.10 pm. The jeep driver sped away after the mishap.In another incident, a 75-year old person who was crossing the road near PMC school at Pashan lost his life when he was hit by a speeding autorickshaw. The victim was indentified as Bajirao Pandharinath Kavde, a resident of Vitthalnagar, Pashan. The mishap occurred around 3.30 pm. The autorickshaw driver Ravindra Mahadev Banekar, (23) a resident of Baner chawl, Pashan has been arrested.
