The Combined Admission Test (CAT), which was cancelled after a question-paper leak, will be held again on February 15. This was announced after a meeting of the directors of the six IIMs and the chairmen of their admission committees here on Wednesday. In Chennai, CBI director P.C. Sharma denied giving a clean chit to IIM officials. He said the only remark the agency had made was that the probe so far did not indicate their involvement. The other thing they had found, he said, was indications of a racket in CBSE, bank probationary officers’ and other medical exams. Announcing the fresh date, Bakul Dholakia, director of IIM, Ahmedabad, said the test will be held on a Sunday, and care has been taken to see the date do not clash with that of admission tests to other prestigious institutions. Candidates will be informed of the venues later, he said. Dholakia added that the question paper will now be printed at another press. The IIM directors said they will seek the CBI’s help not for security but for pinpointing loopholes in the system. The IIM directors said they were confident the HRD Ministry has not implied that, given what has happened, it will take charge of conducting CAT. ‘‘But we’ll gladly meet the minister if we are called for discussion,’’ said Prakash Apte, director of IIM, Bangalore.
