August 3: Royal Caterers Sports Club rallied from behind to defeat Sutarwar Sports Club 3-1 in the MDFA Harwood League match at the St Xavier’s ground, Parel today.

The relatively young Sutarwar team wilted under the experience of RCSC players after leading the match 1-0 till the early part of the second-half. Sutarwar earned their goal through a penalty kick taken by Albert Braganza in the 27th minute after left-half Nissan Kadoo was brought down by RCSC defender Ashok Lobo.

Sutarwar entered the second session with a 1-0 initiative, but could not hold Caterers down for long. Eleven minutes into the second half, Rubelin D’Souza came up with the equaliser, off a fine Nazreth D’Souza pass. Left-winger Hasmukh Baria’s pass to the unmarked Roy Fernandes gave RCSC their second goal. The Baria-Fernandes duo had missed quite a few chances earlier in the game, but they made no mistake this time.

Their final goal came in the 65th minute through winger Vincent Noronha. The ball rebounded from the bar first, but goalkeeper Eknath Reddy slipped while trying to latch on to it. With Reddy down, Noronha just had to nudge the ball in.

Earlier, in another Harwood League match, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation drubbed All Parsees Sports Club 3-0. ONGC lead 2-0 at half time.

Natraj Swamy scored the first goal in the 22nd minute. The second goal followed five minutes later, Sydney Xavier, the scorer on this occasion.

ONGC rubbed salt on the All Parsees wounds in the 25th minute. Sydney Xavier got past the All Parsees defence, but was tackled by defender Farhad Palia. Xavier lifted the ball to Domnic D’Souza standing closer to the post who slipped the ball into the net.
