CB-CID to prosecute ex-City police chief

CHENNAI, June 30: The State Crime Branch-CID is all set to prosecute former Chennai Police Commissioner, G Veeraraghavan and Fire Service Director, E, Hariharane in connection with the Rs 88 lakh fire equipment purchase scandal. It is said that both the officials had ordered the purchase of different variety of fire equipments from Nisarzs and Co, which supplies uniforms to the fire service department. The officials had strangely favoured the company despite it not being connected with the fire equipment trade. It might be noted that the tenders for the purchase of equipments states that the bidders should have an equipment making facility or must atleast be dealers in the same.
