The CBI, investigating the Madhumita murder case, has alleged non-cooperation from state agencies even as it claimed that the slain poet’s servant has identified her killer.
CBI sources today said they have prepared a detailed note highlighting the ‘‘non-cooperation’’ of the state agencies during its investigations so far, which will soon be sent to the agency headquarters in New Delhi. They also said that the note stated the fact that the investigating agency had taken up the case on the government’s request but it was disheartening that state agencies especially the jail staff and government doctors were not cooperating.
Sources said the agency did not face much problem with the investigations during regime of Mayawati, who requested for the CBI probe into the case, but with the change of guard in the state and Amar Mani crossing the floor from the BSP to the SP, the agency started facing ‘‘rude behaviour’’ from jail officials and non-co-operation from government doctors.
‘‘We have prepared the note highlighting these issues and it will be sent to our senior officials in New Delhi. The state government will receive these complaints through our headquarter,’’ said a CBI official involved in the investigation.
Deshraj, Madhumita’s 13-year-old domestic help and the only eye-witness to the murder, today identified her killer Santosh Rai alias Satya Prakash out of seven persons at the Barabanki jail. Rai was allegedly paid Rs 2 lakh by Rohit Chaturvedi, a relative of Amar Mani for killing Madhumita.
