The left parties today said the responsibility of the Vajpayee Government is hardly over with the delayed parliamentary resolution condemning the US-led war.‘‘The Government’s job has not ended with the adoption of the resolution. A strong demand should be made for restoration of civil rule in Iraq, especially the initiation of a government elected by and run by the people of Iraq and a UN intervention,’’ the CPI-M’s parliamentary party leader Somnath Chatterjee said.Referring to the delay on the Government’s response to the US-led aggression, Chatterjee said: ‘‘The ambivalent attitude of our Government has affected our image in the world. The Government was silent as it runs on the principle of opportunistic alliances.’’‘‘Threat to world peace will continue to be there as long as the US forces remain in Iraq. So are the chances of the war spreading into other parts of West Asia,’’ he said.
