CHANDIGARH, Jan 4: District and Sessions Judge B.S. Bedi today directed the State to present copies of challans collected against all the nine Engineering Department kickbacks case accused in the FIR number 3 registered against them.
Notice has been served on the State for January 16 and the case has been fixed for scrutiny of the challan on the same date.
The third case, under which challans were served today, relates to misappropriation of funds in electrical works in the Sector 32 GMC. The accused were earlier booked in the case under Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC.
While two of the nine accused, K.K. Jerath and Y.P. Saggi, are already in judicial custody for charges of corruption being faced by them, five other accused today moved their bail applications. The decision on granting bail will also be taken on January 14.
The case, which was earlier being heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge S S Lamba, was today transferred to the court of District and Sessions Judge as S S Lamba is himself a witness in the case.
