THOSE IN WITH A CHANCE

The Milan vs Schalke tie winners will surely qualify as group leaders. A 0-0 or a 1-1 result will see Schalke through on the away goals rule, but 2-2 or higher will benefit Milan.

However, a draw will be enough for both (Milan & Schalke) if PSV fail to beat Fenerbahce.

A win over Fenerbahce will certainly make PSV qualify. Fenerbahce are out anyway. PSV could even qualify at Milan’s expense with a draw if the Italians lose to Schalke. Fenerbahce can clinch a UEFA Cup place if they beat PSV.

Villarreal need just a draw with Lille to qualify. Lille, Manchester United and Benfica all need to win to be sure of reaching the knockout stage. If both matches are draws, Villarreal and Lille will qualify. A draw will also be enough for United, but only if Lille lose.

Porto, European champions in 2004, scrape Group H going out to tie vs Artmedia Bratislava. This they must win, and hope Inter Milan beat Rangers, to progress. Inter have already won the group. Rangers can join them in the last 16 with a victory over the leaders. A draw will also be enough for Rangers, provided Artmedia do not beat Porto.

Artmedia need to win and hope Rangers fail to beat Inter.
