CHANDIGARH, Oct 14: Sunder Lal and Sanjeev scored a run each to fashion Chandigarh’s win over Andhra Pradesh on way to the final of the boys section in the 10th Junior National baseball championship being played at the SD Senior Secondary School in Sector 24.

Earlier, Chandigarh outplayed Madhya Pradesh 3-2 in the quarter-finals. Hardev Singh, Surender Lal, Harish got one run each for the winners while Pankaj and Umit scored for the losers.

In another match AP got the better of Bihar (5-1). Nitin got two runs while R Karthik, Naga Srinivas and Chalarathy scored one run each for AP. Aman scored the solitary run for Bihar.

Delhi ousted Rajasthan 12-2. Amit was the star performer for Delhi’s team, scoring three runs. Deepak and Rajiv got two runs. Veenu, Gaurav, Kanan, Mohit, Vijay scored one goal each for Delhi team.

For Rajasthan Kamlesh and Manish were the goal getters.

MCM win
MCM DAV College, Chandigarh beat Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, 15-6, 15-9, 15-5 in their last league match to win the title in the Punjab University Inter-College `A’ division women’s volleyball championship which concluded at PU Campus here today. KCW, Ludhiana got the second spot.

While SMS Karamjot College for Women, Miani scored a 15-3, 15-13, 15-7 win over Govt Gollege for Girls-11, to win the third place in the meet.

DS College lose
Govt College, Karamsar outplayed Dev Samaj College for Education-36, 15-2, 15-1, 15-0 to lift the trophy in the PU Inter-College `B’ division women’s volleyball championship held at PU Campus today.

Veteran TT
The third Chandigarh State veteran’s table tennis championship will be held at Sector 23 Table Tennis Indoor Hall on October 31 and November 1.

The competition in men’s singles event will be held in three categories – above 40 to 50 years, above 50 to 60 years and above 60 years. The women’s singles event will be conducted in 35 years and above.

There is also a lucky mixed-doubles event for all participants.

Entries close with Rajiv Kaushal (coach) at the venue on October 30.
