Resignation of 5 ministers accepted
Though the crisis in the ruling Akali Dal further deepened today with the acceptance of the resignation of five ministers and the stepping down of Prem Singh Chandumajra from the office of the party general secretary, there is no threatto the Parkash Singh Badal government in Punjab.

Insurance Bill sent to panel
The much maligned Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha after protests by the non-Congress opposition parties and immediately referred to a Joint Select Committee for detailed discussions. The Committee will submit its report to Parliament by the first day of the Budget session.

I’m ready to quit: Tohra
Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gurcharan Singh Tohra today said he was ready to quit the office of the President of the SGPC, if asked by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
