CHANDIGARH, Sept 29: Chandigarh were in the driver’s seat against Ropar on the opening day of their two-day Punjab Inter-District Katoch Shield cricket tournament here at the PCA Stadium today.
After bundling out Ropar for 140, Chandigarh were 130 for one off 27 overs at the close of play. Skipper Dinesh Mongia was well within sight of a well deserved century and keeping him company was opener Jaspreet Singh on a resolute 40.

For Chandigarh, Jaideep Singh, vying for a comeback to the Punjab Ranji squad in Bharti Vij’s absence, bowled well. The two off-spinners, Sanjay Dhull and Jaisreet Singh were equally impressive, though Dhull had only one wicket to Jaisreet’s three.
