CHANDIGARH, Oct 13: The hosts Chandigarh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Haryana moved into the last eight stage of the girls section in the 10th Junior National baseball championship being played at SD Senior Secondary School in Sector 24.

Delhi, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh also made it to the quarter-finals of the girls group.

Chandigarh entered the boys quarterfinals as well.

Results
Girls: Himachal Pradesh lost to Tamil Nadu 4-5; Delhi bt Haryana 11-10; Chandigarh bt HP 8-2; Madhya Pradesh bt Punjab 8-1; Andhra Pradesh bt Gujarat 5-3; Delhi bt Bihar 4-3.
Boys: Rajasthan bt Maharashtra 13-8; MP lost to AP 3-7; Bihar bt Gujarat 10-0; Delhi bt TN 4-3; MP bt Haryana 4-3; Punjab bt Rajasthan 10-0.

Selection trials
Trials to select the Chandigarh schools teams in under-19 group in basketball, handball and kabaddi in boys and girls sections and boxing in boys category for the forthcoming National School Games to be held at Jalandhar from October 22 to 29 will be held on October 15 (boys) and October 16 (girls).

The basketball trials will be held at the Sports Complex Sector 7 while Sector 42 Sports Complex will be the venue for kabaddi.

The handball trials will be held at DAV Senior Secondary School-8 and boxing trials will be conducted at Boxing Coaching Centre, Sector 23. The players should report at the venue at 2.30 p.m.

Cricket trials
Trials to select under-16 District Panchkula cricket team in the boys group to take part in the Haryana State cricket championship will be held on October 17 at Sector 5 Cricket Stadium, Panchkula.

Players born on or after September 1, 1982 are eligible for the trials.

The trials would commence at 9 a.m.

Title for MCM
MCM DAV-36 bagged the title in the Panjab University Inter-College `A’ division women’s kho-kho championship held at PU Campus today.

Government College for Girls-11 got the second position while GGS College-26 were placed third in the meet.

In the last league match, MCM beat GCG-11, 9-5. In another match GGS-26 defeated Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, 11-8.

PU volleyball
Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana outplayed Government College for Girls-11, 15-5, 15-0, 15-2 in the Panjab University Inter-College `A’division women’s volleyball championship being played at PU Campus.

Results: MCM DAV-36 bt SMS Karamjot College for Women, Miani 15-6, 15-5, 15-10; GCG-11 lost to MCM DAV-36, 0-15, 3-15, 11-15; KCW, Ludhiana bt SMS, Miani 15-3, 15-5, 15-9.
