Chandy asks VS to reveal name of ‘VIP’

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has reiterated his demand that Opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan should reveal the name of the VIP who visited the Kiliroor sex scandal victim following which the condition of the girl allegedly worsened. ‘‘The girl died the other day. The Opposition leader should reveal the name of the VIP at least now,’’ Chandy said during the Cabinet briefing and added that it was clear from Achuthanandan’s statements that he knew who the VIP was.

According to him, the Kerala government has requested the Centre to hand over the Kiliroor case to the CBI and a letter in this regard has been sent to the Centre on November 4. The government took the decision despite a competent team of the state police already investigating the case.

The Chief Minister also said that the government would go by the law in the ice-cream parlour sex scandal. ‘‘But I cannot accept the demand that action should be taken against innocent persons,’’ he said when asked about the demand for the resignation of Industry Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty.
