The NDA’s prime minister candidate, L K Advani, on Wednesday asked the UPA Government to “resign” if it was unable to control inflation. “The common man is today tormented most by the rising prices. We wish to tell the UPA loudly and clearly — control prices, else quit,” he said. Advani was speaking at the parliamentary party meeting of BJP. He said his party would intensify its agitation on the price rise issue.
Media reports suggested that the wholesale price index did not show the true extent of situation, he said and sought an explanation from the Prime Minister. “If this is even partially true, it raises serious questions about the honesty and integrity of the UPA Government. A Government that is not truthful with citizens is not fit to govern,” he said.
“Instead of confronting the problem with a proper plan and a united effort that can instill confidence among the people, they are busy passing the buck and blaming the Opposition,” he added.
