Paris, Mar 15: Chelsea stormed to a 3-1 win away to feyenoord last night to seal their spot in the last eight of the European Champions League, but seven-time champions Real Madrid remain in danger of missing out.

Chelsea’s win came through goals from Gian Franco Zola, Dennis Wise and Tore Andre Flo, and saw the London club make sure of one of the top two spots in group D as they joined Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Dynamo Kyiv, last year’s semi-finalists, held Real to a 2-2 draw in the Spanish capital to stay level with the Spanish side on seven points after five games in group C of the second-phase.

Bayern, who beat Rosenborg Trondheim 2-1, are assured of winning the group, but whether Dynamo or Real go through will go down to the wire.

Chelsea now head group D With 10 points after their win in Rotterdam, while Lazio are placed second on eight points after a 5-1 home win against French strugglers Marseille. Feyenoord have seven points, but their hopes are fading.

Striker Simone Inzaghi scored four of Lazio’s goals in a sparkling individual display, taking his tally to seven goals in the tournament this season. Marseille are out of quarter-final contention.

Chelsea missed an early penalty against Feyenoord -goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek saving Frank Leboeuf’s spot kick – but responded to that setback with determination.

Zola put the London side ahead before half-time with a superb strike from 20 Meters out that flew into the net off a post.

Although substitute Bonaventure Kalou scored from close range to pull Feyenoord level early in the second half, Chelsea then grabbed the match by the throat.

Dennis Wise, the only englishman in Chelsea’s starting line-up, scored with a 63rd-minute header from a Celestine Babayaro cross, and then Norwegian international Flo rounded out the scoring with a fine third goal for the visitors.

Lazio were in an unstoppable mood against woeful Marseille with Inzaghi completing a hat-trick within 39 minutes of the first half.

The striker’s first goal came when he beat the offside trap and tucked the ball under goalkeeper Stephane Porato.

Marseille equaliser from Jacques Abardonado was disallowed for offside but Inzaghi struck twice within 90 seconds to make it 3-1.

Jerome Leroy pulled a goal back for Marseille with a header from an Ivan De la Pena free-kick, but Inzaghi, with a close-range flick, and croatian Allen Boksic, with a header, wrapped up the scoring.

Inzaghi could have had five goals – but also missed a penalty on the hour.

Sven Goran Eriksson’s Lazio side still need all three points from their match against Chelsea next Wednesday to be certain of qualification ahead of Feyenoord. If the sides finish level on points, the Dutch champions will progress due to their superior head-to-head record.

The Real-Kyiv match was drama-filled with raul scoring and then missing from the penalty spot for Real early on, while Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas saved a spot kick from Serhii Rebrov.

Dynamo roared back with a 42nd-minute equaliser from Belarus international Alexander Khatskevich- with a diving header after Real failed to clear a corner – and then took the lead on 56 minutes when Fernando Hierro slid a low cross from George Demetradze into his own goal.

Brazilian Roberto Carlos saved Real’s blushes with an equaliser from a long-range free-kick, but Real will still probably need to win their final match away to Rosenborg next week to advance.

The Russian champions remain second on goal difference and face Bayern at home in their final game, while Real travel to bottom club Rosenborg.

A win would see Real go through to the last eight due to their superior head-to-head record against Kyiv.

Bayern, already qualified, took it easy against Rosenborg, already out of contention for a place in the last eight, but goals from Mehmet Scholl in the 11th minute and a Paulo Sergio penalty in the 39th minute proved enough for a 2-1 win, even though John Carew pulled a second-half goal back for Rosenborg.

Rosenborg had Bjorn Otto Bragstad sent off for swearing at the referee in the dying minutes.
