CHANDIGARH, Dec 15: The Morni murder case, which is on the stage of evidence, came up for hearing in the court of UT District and Sessions Judge B.S. Bedi today, with the public prosecution examining a chemist of Mohali for evidence.

Gurpreet Singh, the witness, testified that he had sold four calmpose pills to the accused Charanjeev and Jeetendra Bhatia. The pills were allegedly used by the accused for making the victim senseless before starngulating and finally burning him to death.

The witness claimed that bill related to the sale of calmpose tablets. His cross-examination was, however, deferred as he did not have the stock register about the quantity of calmpose sold.

The case has been deferred till January 11 next year.

It may be recalled that the Vinay Aggarwal, a resident of Sector 43, was allegedly murdered by the accused over the question of giving a share in commission. The victim’s friend Sushil Kumar had reported that Vinay was missing and on July 8, 1997 a case was registered under Section 364 of the IPC. Later when the accused were apprehended by the police, the case was converted to one of murder.
