Chinese incursion report baseless: MoD

The Defence Ministry on Monday said that reports of Chinese incursion in Sumdorong Chu valley, Asaphila and Lungar Camps in Arunachal Pradesh were baseless.

The Defence Ministry on Monday said that reports of Chinese incursion in Sumdorong Chu valley, Asaphila and Lungar Camps in Arunachal Pradesh were baseless.

Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju said “no such serious issue has arisen”. Later, a Defence Ministry spokesman described the reports as a “misrepresentation”. The Ministry was responding to allegations made by BJP MP from West Arunachal Pradesh Kiven Rijiju that Chinese forces had moved 20 km inside Indian territory. An officer from the Tawang-based 5 Mountain Division said that the last patrol, which went up to the McMohan Line just three days back, has not alerted about any untoward happening in the area.
