Former Maharashtra Minister Dharmarao Aatram, remanded in magisterial custody after his arrest in the June 14 chinkara killing case, is being shifted to Pune’s Yerwada Jail.
After a Saswad court sentenced him to magisterial custody on August 30, Atram had complained of chest pain and was admitted to Pune’s Sassoon Hospital.
“He is being discharged and will be shifted to Yerwada Jail this evening,” a highly-placed source said.
Atram, who belongs to NCP, is charged with killing the endangered animal in his party boss Sharad Pawar’s home turf, the Baramati region.
Atram resigned from the state Cabinet last month in the wake of mounting pressure following the poaching episode.
