Surat, April 27: Rajendra Chokhawala has been elected president of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) for 1998-99 unopposed. Chokhawala was vice-president in the last body.

Amarnath Dora became vice-president unopposed after four other candidates — Ashok Shah, Bharat Gandhi, Praful Shah and Pravinbhai Modi — withdrew their nominations. The two will take charge after the annual general meeting, scheduled to be held the next month.
