England's prestigious business school, the London School of Economics and Politics (LSE), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding on corporate training with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).Signing the MoU, LSE visiting Director Howard Davies said that the alliance will raise LSE’s profile in India and increase collaboration on research and training for Indian corporates. In future more students from India would be accepted at LSE and more business, outsourced or not, would be expected from Indian firms, he added.‘‘The LSE and CII partnership will raise LSE’s profile in India, raise the number of Indian students in LSE and develop research and training collaboration with industry,’’ Sir Davies said.Davies allayed fears of a backlash against outsourcing work to India on grounds that the United Kingdom is a supporter of free trade and globalisation, though it knew of the risks it posed. ‘‘In the UK most people are fairly relaxed on outsourcing, and so are the trade unions. We believe in free markets and accept that while some jobs will move, people should not be denied the opportunity to work because of them,’’ he said.
