PUNE, Mar 9: A group of citizens’ fora and social organisations in the city gave a memorandum to the Chief Minister Narayan Rane condemning the transfer of Arun Bhatia from the post of Divisional Commissioner to Pune Municipal Commissioner. The described the transfer as a result of Bhatia’s crusade against corruption in the revenue and irrigation departments. They hoped that the new Divisional Commissioner Rajiv Agarwal will continue the anti-corruption drive initiated by Bhatia. The organisations further warned the State government against shielding corruption, in the event of which they would launch an agitation over the entire State.

The organisations included Aundh Vikas Mohalla Committee, Committee for People’s Empowerment, Viman Nagar Citizens’ Group and Parisar.
