
Unnatural deaths
Three unnatural deaths were reported from different parts of city and rural parts of the district on Tuesday. According to the Makarpura police, one Champa Rathod, 25, who had sustained burns on June 22 and admitted to SSG Hospital succumbed on Tuesday. The JP Road police said one Jayaben Chauhan, 70, committed suicide by consuming poison. Also, one Bhaga Rathodia, a resident of Varnama village, died after he consumed excessive liquor on Tuesday. Case have been registered and are being investigated.
PASA case
One Mohammad Khan Pathan, a notorious bootlegger, was held by the city police under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) from Mali Mohalla and sent to the Rajkot Jail, an official release said on Tuesday.
Tortured
A resident of Gorwa complained to police that her husband and his family members had been mentally and physically torturing her. The police has registered cases against her two brothers-in-law and husband and are looking into the matter, the police said on Tuesday.
Traffic cases
The Traffic police challaned abut 900 vehicles on Tuesday and recovered fines of Rs 30,000, according to an official release.
Buried alive
A 12-year-old boy Manish Keharbhai Tadvi was buried alive in Haripur village of Sankheda taluka of district on Monday. Fire brigade sources said that when the boy was digging, a big mound of sand caved in, killing him in the process.
Vehicle stolen
An autorickshaw (GJ-6-V-9806) worth Rs 40,000 was stolen from Waghodia Road crossing and a moped (GJ-6-FF-3595) worth Rs 7,000 from the parking lot near Yuvraj Super Store on Old Padra Road on Sunday, the police said. The police have registered cases.
Two injured
Two persons received minor bruises in a clash between two groups of the Baroda Kerala Samaj general body meeting convened to elect office-bearers at the Akota Atithi Grih on Sunday evening. S Padmasuran, a former general secretary of the Samaj, told Express Newsline that 70 per cent of the members boycotted the elections after the clash.
House break
Miscreants broke into a house of one Jayantilal Darji, a resident of Shriram Park, Gorwa, and decamped with jewellery and other valuables worth Rs 35,000, the police said. Darji and his family members were asleep on the terrace of the house, when the thieves broke into the house.
