Space age travel
This promises to be the one-stop solution to all your travel needs. intratravels.net is a site offering an entire range of options – bus, rail and air tickets – hotel accommodation, rent-a-car and package tours. Ameya Abhyankar, a first year student of Fergusson College, has developed this user-friendly site, and the service is operational in Pune and Mumbai at present. Soon it will be available in South India, Middle East and South East Asia too.

“Frequent travellers who want to save time can sit back after clicking on the appropriate destinations and mode of travel. The traveller selects a tour operator, fills a simple reservation form and sends us an e-mail,” says young Abhyankar. So here are happy times ahead for travellers.

Crafting their world
Their world may be enveloped in silence but their talent and skills speak for themselves. The hearing- and speech-impaired students of V.R. Ruia School organised an exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts made by them from October 6 to 8 between 4 and 8 p.m. at the Tilak College of Education hall, SP College premises.

Leather purses, ceramic pots, files and portfolios are among the articles on display. “The school curriculum includes art and craft classes where the students are taught carpentry, screen printing, book-binding and other vocational skills which will help them become self-reliant. The exhibition, which has been organised for the first time by the school, will serve as an encouragement to the students and a means of raising funds for the school,” says principal S.V. Thakar, hoping visitors to the exhibition will help the students help themselves.

Artistic definitions
Every year, Bal Wad and Sujata Dharap’s Creative Club and Family Art Gallery comes up with an interesting collection of exhibits. This year, the club initiated an intensive course in ceramics and for its eight students, this exhibition is a sort of arangetram, an opportunity to display their creativity. Terracottas in unconventional designs, different shapes, forms and colours and hanging lamps in architect Jayant Dharap’s inimitable style are the other highlights to watch out for. Artist Rohan Sohankari will also displays some nifty canvases.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Professor Kapahi, director, NCRA, on the evening of October 11. The show is on till October 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. daily at the Creative Club premises, 16, Amber, Bhonsale Nagar.
