SURAT, Dec 15: The C K Pithawala College of Engineering and Technology was declared open on Tuesday, in a function attended by academicians, educationists and other prominent citizens. The college, located at Rander Road, will offer degree courses in four disciplines of engineering with classes for the first year beginning Tuesday.

Run by the Navyug Vidyabhawan Trust, of which noted industrialist C K Pithawala is president, the CKPC is the second engineering college in the city.

Providing details, Administrative Officer R A Mistry said that

while the 40 seats each in Computer and Electronics and Communication streams were full, 30 of the 40 seats for Electrical Engineering as well as 45 of the 60 seats for Mechanical Engineering were also filled. “The SC and ST reserved seats are being decided in Ahmedabad, but classes have begun from today,” Mistry said.

Ajaybhai Pithawala of the Trust presided over the function which was attended by the principals of all colleges of the city besides professors of the South Gujarat University. The admissions of students of the First B.E degree courses have been certified by the Central Admission Committee (CAC) of the State Government, Principal R L Dudhwala said during the function.
