Polling was peaceful, except for stray incidents of violence at Talasari in Thane and Khed near Pune. Polling percentage was lower than first phase. Police fired in the air in Khed to quell a group of alleged CPM workers when they attacked a police team. Also, in Khed, a minor scuffle broke out between workers of NCP and Shiv Sena near the residence of Sena candidate Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil. At least 12 people were injured in a clash between BJP and CPM activists over distribution of voters’ slips in Talasari. The issue of names missing from voters’ list took a dramatic turn at the CEO’s press meet when he threatened to walk out on being grilled by mediapersons.

Independent candidate from Pune LS seat Arun Bhatia asked for fresh polls as his election symbol, kite, had been wrongly displayed against the name of another candidate on the EC site.
