SANGRUR, Feb 15: The District Class IV Government Employees Union organised a protest demonstration in the town today to protest the alleged “hushing up” of a rape case involving a minor Dalit girl of village Ladal.
The protestors said that the police inspite of registration of the case on October 7 had adopted delaying tactics under the pretext that they were yet to receive the medical report and finally saying the report did not reveal that the girl was raped.
They said that their organisation met the deputy Commissioner who ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter but the SP (D) hushed up the matter at the behest of an Akali leader. The employees said that the father of the victim, who is a Class IV employee, was apprehending implication in some false case by the local police.
They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and transfer of the SHO.
