CHENNAI, January 28: Can coffee be an antidote for exposure to nuclear radiation ? Yes, if Prof. P C Kesavan of the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation here is to be believed. He has said in a paper that he had found that mice, which normally died within 25 days of exposure to radiation, lived for 90 days when injected with faffeine within 30 minutes of the exposure to radiation. Coffee-drinkers also stood a better chance of escaping from the ill effects of smoking, the former director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has said.
