COIMBATORE, NOV 13: The one-man P R Gokulakrishnan Judicial Commission, enquiring into the November 1997 communal clashes and February 1998 serial blasts in the city and suburbs, will submit its final report by January 2000.

Tamil Nadu Government had appointed the commission immediately after the November clashes and subsequent police firings in the aftermath of the murder of a traffic constable, Selvaraj in the city, which claimed over 20 lives.

The commission was also given the responsibility to probe the serial blasts, that rocked the city during the visit of the then BJP president, L K Advani for electioneering on Feb 14, 1998 leaving 58 dead and over 250 injured. Out of about 600 petitions related to the blast cases, inquiry on 320 petitions was already over and inquiry into the remaining was underway, a press release on Saturday said.
