The Central leadership of the Congress on Thursday came out in support of the Maharashtra Government, which has been facing flak for not filing an appeal against Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s acquittal in the 1992-93 riots cases.

AICC Media cell chairperson Veerappa Moily said Srikrishna Commission’s report was “fact finding” and it had to be further investigated by police. “Whenever evidence is available, the state Government will not hesitate to file charges against any person,” he said. “But we will not take any political revenge. Law will take its own course. The Government will not come in the way of any justice,” said Moily.
