No change: TNCC chief CHENNAI: The Congress high command is not contemplating changes in the TNCC leadership, TNCC president S. Balakrishnan said on Thursday. Balakrishnan, who had called on party chief Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday, said he had briefed Sonia on the membership drive going on in the state. (PTI) Preparing to take serious action against the dissidents in its Kerala unit, the AICC today appointed senior party leader L.P. Shahi to head a committee to look into the complaints. Shahi, who has put in as many years in politics as veteran party leader K. Karunakaran, would be examining the charges against some of the ‘‘party leaders who worked against the official Congress candidate in the recent bypoll in Kerala and issued statements damaging to the party’s interest to the media.’’ Two other panel members are R.K. Dhawan and Janardhan Poojary. The committee is expected to go to Kerala to talk to party members after the report of the poll observers. The report is expected sometime this week. The factionalism between Karunakaran and A.K. Antony spilled into the open recently in the run-up to the by-election.
