NEW DELHI, NOV 6: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today alleged that the Congress had started to take a “soft line” against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) which assassinated former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Swamy cited three instances in support of his allegation. One that the Congress government in Delhi had decided to allot one acre of land to Dravida Kazhagam leader Veeramani, a vocal sympathiser of the LTTE, to start a `Periyar Centre’ in Delhi.

Second, the Congress government in Karnataka had acquiesced in the nominationof Tamil Desiya Iyyakam leader P. Nedumaran, also a supporter of Tamil Eelam, as an emissary to negotiate with jungle outlaw Veerappan for the release of Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar and two other hostages.

Third, the Congress had chosen not to lodge a protest against the meeting between MDMK leader Vaiko, whose party is a constituent of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, and LTTE ideologue Anton Balasingam recently.
