The Left will have no truck with the Congress but will enter into other regional alliances to counter the BJP-led NDA.Leaders of CPI and CPI(M) spelt out the Left’s twin mottos at their strategy meeting — burst the BJP’s feel good-feel great campaign and put all secular votes in one basket. The CPI(M) made it clear at its ongoing politburo meeting that it would not be part of any formalised political front with either the Congress or any other party, not even in AP where defeating the TDP-BJP combine is the prime agenda. The parties will aim for ‘‘subtle’’ seat adjustments at the state level and build a broad understanding with secular forces at the national level. ‘‘We will have no truck with Congress. But our main objective is to ensure the defeat of the BJP and its allies and minimise the division of secular votes which has been helping communal forces,’’ CPI(M) politburo member and spokesperson Sitaram Yechuri said in Hyderabad. For the first time, the CPI and CPI(M) have kept aside their nibbling differences and are coordinating their national level party meeting.
