PATNA, July 14: The Laloo Prasad Yadav government was effectively bailed out of its crisis today when the Bihar unit of the Congress announced that it would abstain from the House when the no-confidence motion is introduced tomorrow.
Although this is a clear indication that party chief Kesri has had his way, PCC leaders claimed that they were the ones who had taken this stand because they didn’t want to support a “corrupt chief minister.”Confident in the numbers game now, Laloo told the Speaker that he would move the confidence motion tomorrow. It has been learnt that the Jharkhandis, too, have thrown their weight behind him. However, the Oppn, including the BJP, Janata Dal, Samata, and the Left have claimed that they will not allow the House to function tomorrow.
