
NEW DELHI, May 8: The Congress MLA from Hastal Mukesh Sharma has ended his indefinite hunger strike last night. He was protesting against an attempt on his life which allegedly took place while he was supervising the installation of a power transformer.
According to Sharma, he had ended the strike after being assured by the police that the assailants who attacked him would be brought to book. He said that the officials of the Delhi Vidyut Board have also assured him that the transformers that were to be installed in his area would be set up as planned.
For the last two days, Mohan Garden area has been in the grip of tension with residents taking to the roads and blocking traffic seeking better power supply.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Congress chief whip Deep Chand Bandhu has announced that if action is not taken against the assailants who attacked Sharma, the party activists would demonstrate at the office of the Union Home Minister.
