Criticising Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s statement questioning the purpose of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s visit to Jaipur, the Congress on Thursday advised her to ensure law and order in the state.

“The BJP would be better served by ensuring law and order in state and providing effective governance rather than trying to score brownie points and blame the Central Government. If the perception in Rajasthan is that (after) 8 pm, there’s no CM, this is the story of governance in Rajasthan,” said the AICC spokesperson Manish Tiwari.

“The BJP is functioning like an orchestra to distract attention from the failure of the state Government,” he added, pointing out that Raje had not questioned L K Advani’s visit.

“There was specific information sent to the state Government about 45 days back, but Rajasthan Government did not take any preventive steps. It would have been appropriate if the Rajasthan Government could have acted upon the actionable intelligence,” he said. The Congress also criticised the BJP for demanding POTA and calling for a national debate in the backdrop of the terrorist attacks.
