AURANGABAD, DEC 8: The Congress party’s attempt to stall proceedings in Parliament over the Ayodhya issue was a telling indication of the frustration that had crept in that party after the BJP declared its intention to include the Muslim community into its fold, BJP president, Bangaru Laxman said here on Saturday.
Bangaru, who was a flying-visit to the town today, said there appeared to be no other explanation as to why the Congress was trying to protest on something which had occured eight years ago. “Congress is trying to scare the Muslims away from the BJP,” he said.
“Yes, people do give vent to their feeling on December six each year, but it has always been a one-day affair. Never has there been such a hue and cry over the issue in Parliament like now,” the BJP chief said even as he termed the Congress and opposition behaviour as irresponsible.
Over the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, Bangaru said the issue could either be decided by the Supreme Court or settled through a dialogue.
“But for that dialogue to take place, conducive talks have to be held between the concerned parties, which is currently missing,” Bangaru said.
To a question, the BJP president said he did not know if Prime Minister’s statement that Muslims had expressed their agreement to the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya, was made after any consultation with Muslims leaders in the Country.
