NEW DELHI, March 9: Himachal Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party leader Prem Kumar Dhumal today alleged that BJP and Himachal Vikas Congress (HVC) MLAs in the state were being ‘‘threatened by Congressmen’’ and sought security protection to them.

After meeting President K R Narayanan, Dhumal said the party had told the President that the Governor should make the chief minister seek a vote of confidence on the very first day of the Assembly session when the MLAs take oath. He said that there should be no other issue on the Assembly’s agenda till the confidence vote was taken and the result

was known.

The HVC, led by former communications minister Sukh Ram, is supporting the BJP in the state.
