The Congress will go it alone in the Assembly elections in Karnataka, senior leader and former chief minister of the state M Veerappa Moily said on Saturday. “The Congress will contest the elections on its own,” Moily told reporters here.
However, the party did not rule out the possibility of joining hands with JD(S) again in the event of a hung Assembly after the May elections. Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Congress spokesperson Kapil Sibal said, “Hopefully, when the verdict comes, we would have got majority. But if there is a situation (fractured verdict) and we need to get a government to the people of Karnataka, we will then exercise our option.”
