MUMBAI, JAN 29: Consistency is the key word and Lucknow’s Vijay Kumar proved it as he snatched the lead with another sub-par round on the second day of the Navy Golf Pro-Am tournament at the par-70 United Services Club today.Vijay’s Day Two card of two-under par 68 saw him total 135 after 36 holes, two strokes ahead of overnight leader Magan Subba Rao. The local lad who equalled the course record yesterday fumbled today with a three-over par 73.Vijay who has not played golf recently due to his marriage said that he was not confident of his game during the last two rounds because of lack of practice. Because of which he had decided to play it safe and wait for putts to drop.

Fortunately for him they did and with the new found confidence the two time Champion Golfer of the Year winner announced that he was going to launch into an attack in the next two days.

Shiv Prakash set the home stretch on fire with a string of six birdies in a row from the 13th to 18th to finish the day at four-under par 66.ReigningIndian Open champion Feroz Ali carded a round of 68 to jump into the third spot, one stroke behind Magan.

The pro-am part of the Rs five-lakh tournament gets under way tomorrow and is the first time such a format will be played in the city.
