The alleged rape of a CPI(M) activist in Coochbehar in North Bengal took a different turn today with State Minister for Agriculture Kamal Guha of the Forward Bloc, a constituent of the Left Front government, saying CPI(M) supporters were involved in the incident.

‘‘My party members in Coochbehar have informed me that CPI(M) members were involved in the rape case,’’ said Guha.

Meanwhile, the state Assembly today witnessed chaotic scenes with the Opposition staging a walk-out after the Speaker disallowed an adjournment motion on the issue. CPI(M) leaders continued to brush aside the allegation that party members were involved in the case. Party leader Dinesh Dakua said the CPI(M) would continue to support its activist who’s been named in the FIR.
