For the first time in J-K, police seized an explosive-laden car with 300 kg of RDX, fabricated to be used in a fidayeen attack or a car bomb explosion early this morning from Doda town.

Police have rounded up a suspect and are looking for the car’s driver. The Ambassador car, bearing fake registration, was parked behind the Doda district hospital building that’s under construction. The Ram Leela venue and a temple were few feet away from the explosive-laden car.

Militants’ other targets were the nearby offices of Deputy Commissioner, SSP and Police Control Room. ‘‘This is the biggest-ever RDX haul here and we have averted a major tragedy,’’ Doda SSP Sunil Kumar said.

The SSP said a police patrol was located the car at about 3 am. Inside, improvised explosive devices, weighing 20 kg each, and five bags, each with over 52 kg RDX, three big batteries and a remote control device were found.
