Cops foil Naxal bid to blow up chopper

Ahead of the April 20 LS polls, police on Sunday foiled alleged attempts by PWG Naxals to blow up an IAF chopper in Kanker district and engaged in gunbattles with the ultras at eight places, leaving an unspecified number of extremists dead and a CRPF constable injured, police said. Naxalites had planted landmines in Kiskodo helipad to blow up the helicopter that was ferrying poll parties and security personnel to booths. —(PTI)
