A Bihar court has ordered the auction of the Circuit House here and two cars of the District Magistrate to clear the dues of a person whose land was acquired by the government for setting up the office of the Gandak project. The late Ramashraya Prasad Singh of Manikpur village filed a case in 1983 against the district administration for non-payment of compensation for acquisition.
The court, after considering the arguments of both the sides in 1994, had ordered that Singh be paid Rs 59 lakh. As the government did not comply with the court’s earlier order, Singh’s wife Saroj Devi filed a petition in 1997 seeking a fresh directive for payment of compensation with interest.
