NAWANWHAHR, Dec 15: As part of their statewide protest against the alleged false police encounters in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, the district CPIML unit organised a massive dharna outside the DC office here today.

The leaders who addressed the dharna said the police in these two states were resorting to false encounters at the behest of big landlords there to crush the peoples movements. The alleged `goondas’ of lanlords in connivance with police were preventing people from exercising their democratic rights, they charged.

Surinder Singh Bains of Kirti Kisan Union, Punjab, Gurbakhash Kaur Sangha, president, Istri Jagriti Manch Punjab also addressed the dharna.

Later, in a memorandum sent to the Prime Minister through the DC, the rallyists urged immediate stop to false encounters, restoration of democratic right in Bihar and AP and punishment to the police officials who were responsible for killing 11 CPIML activists.
